One of Toronto’s most beloved holiday traditions has been scrooged by COVID.
The National Ballet of Canada announced Wednesday it has “made the difficult decision” to cancel all remaining performance of The Nutcracker at the Four Seasons Centre “for the safety of our artists and audience.”
The company said in a statement the cancellations are directly due to “breakthrough cases of COVID-19 within company ranks” after “remaining clear” for the past 22 months “with the dancers, musicians, staff, and crew being fully vaccinated and rigorous testing and strict safety protocols in place.”
Options for ticketholders include “a full refund and priority seating for The Nutcracker 2022.”
“We know this is deeply disappointing as the Nutcracker is a holiday tradition for many,” the company said in its statement.
“These are incredibly challenging times and we thank you for your patience.”
