A second person, a 24-year-old Toronto man, has now been charged with murder in the fatal shooting last spring of a Brampton man who police say was not the intended target.
Peel Regional Police said Jevon Harris-Smith, 30, was shot multiple times in the early morning hours on April 5, 2024, while in front of his home in the Finegan Circle-Sudeley Lane area in Brampton.

Cops said two suspects fled in a red vehicle, later determined to be stolen.
Police, meanwhile, determined Harris-Smith was not the intended target in the deadly violence.
A young offender, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with first-degree murder on May 29, 2024.
On Thursday, cops said further investigation led to a second suspect being identified.
Dennis Mclean was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
A GoFundMe campaign describes Harris-Smith as “a devoted partner and loving father of two beautiful daughters” who was the “key breadwinner” of the family.
“Jevon was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He worked tirelessly to ensure they had everything they needed and more,” reads the campaign, which has raised more than $30,000.
