Shooter sought after video captures Markham home targeted in drive-by

Investigators need help identifying a shooter who opened fire on a Markham home from inside an SUV last weekend.

York Regional Police say the shooting unfolded in the area of 16th Avenue and William Berczy Blvd. – east of Kennedy Rd. – around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

“When officers arrived, they observed visible damage to the garage door and located multiple shell casings in front of the residence,” Const. James Dickson said Wednesday.

He said the house was occupied at the time but nobody was injured.

Investigators have released security camera video of the shooting hoping someone may recognize the vehicle, a black Audi SUV, or its driver.

The footage shows the SUV stopping on the street and the driver firing five rounds in quick succession out the open front passenger side window before speeding away.

“Investigators believe the incident is targeted and the investigation is ongoing,” Dickson said.
