Toronto Police say they were notified of the kidnapping a day after the victim was abducted from an establishment near Midland and Sheppard Aves. on July 18.
“The victim was lured into an establishment” and “held against their will for several hours by eight men,” police said in a statement released Friday.
The victim, whose age and gender have not been revealed, was assaulted and the abductors stole the person’s banking and personal information, police allege.
The kidnappers then allegedly stole cash from the victim’s bank accounts.
“The victim was then dropped off in a remote area and was able to seek assistance and call police,” police said, adding the victim was then transported to hospital with “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.”
