Toronto Mayor John Tory announced Wednesday that city crews will draw ‘social distancing circles’ onto the grass at Trinity Bellwoods Park — the site where many thousands of city residents took in the sun over the weekend against the urgings of officials to enjoy the springtime weather responsibly.
“Which will both help to illustrate proper physical distancing and help with the measurements, but also help to ensure compliance in a place where we simply have to do better,” Tory said at the city’s thrice-weekly COVID-19 news briefing.
News of the packed park made headlines across Canada, with Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi on Tuesday telling Calgarians to not “be like Toronto” as his city eases coronavirus restrictions.
