Peel Regional Police said officers responded at about 9 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Forestwood Dr. and Erindale Station Rd., north of Dundas St. W.

Police said cops arrived to the area and found the vehicle with occupants and initiated a Cannabis Act investigation. That led to the discovery of a loaded illegal firearm, an imitation firearm as well as a drugs packaged for sale.

“Thanks to these officers, illegal drugs and guns have been taken off our streets and cannot be used to harm our community,” Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in a news release.

“In this case, one of the individuals was already prohibited from possessing firearms due to past criminal behaviour, another currently on release conditions from prior criminal activity; a blatant disregard for their conditions.”
