The two people found dead following a shooting that rocked Oshawa over the weekend are being remembered for their dedication to teaching and hockey, respectively.
Andrieana Montgomery, 42, and Patrick Montgomery, 42, were identified as the victims of a fatal double shooting that happened in separate residences.
Mark Gordon, 30, of Oshawa, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Police have not released a motive, but said it wasn’t related to domestic violence.
Andrieana worked as an arts and music teacher at Bowmanville High School and was referred to as “an inspiration to the Ukrainian community, her Indigenous community, her school and, most importantly, her beautiful boys.”
“I will miss her and I’m certain many will as well,” Mark Lim said on the Facebook page Bowmanville Uncensored.
Kathryn Bombino added: “She was a wonderful person, a beautiful soul, the best mama and she will be missed by so many of my friends and my son’s friends.”
The Facebook page referred to Patrick and Andrieana as husband and wife.

Patrick was a 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward who played three seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League from 1999-2002, appearing in 175 games and adding 18 goals and 20 assists along with 385 penalty minutes.
The Oshawa native went on to play four years at Brock University in St. Catharines and then senior hockey with the Brantford Blast, Norwood Vipers and Whitby Dunlops.
“It is with a saddened heart that the Oshawa Generals organization express condolences for the passing of former left-winger Pat Montgomery,” the Generals said in a statement issued on Monday.
“It is always sad to hear of an alumni’s passing. This is more difficult with the tragic events surrounding the death of Pat Montgomery,” Generals general manager and vice-president Roger Hunt added on behalf of the organization. “With the loss of these two lives, our thoughts and prayers immediately go out to the remaining family members and children.”
Durham Regional Police said sounds of gunshots were reported Saturday near Rossland Rd. W. and Stevenson Rd. N. at about 12:35 p.m.
Police said officers arrived at a home on Glenforest St. and found a 42-year-old man — Patrick — who had been shot and died shortly before being transported to a hospital.
