Teen falsely claims he was wounded in drive-by shooting: Cops

A 16-year-old boy faces weapons charges after he falsely claimed to be the victim of a drive-by shooting, according to Toronto Police.

Officers found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound in the Morningside-Milner Aves. area on Aug. 15 around 4 p.m.

After investigating, police added, officers determined the teen’s wound was the result of an accidental firearm discharge.

It turned out to be an accidental shooting by someone else — not a drive-by as initially reported, alleged Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook.

The person who discharged the firearm is being dealt with as a separate case.

On Aug. 20, police executed a search warrant on a vehicle related to the shooting and located a semi-automatic firearm and a shell casing.

The boy — who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because of his age —  has been charged with offences, including possession of a firearm and obstructing a peace officer.
