Three men face charges after a victim was abducted in Markham and held captive for nearly 12 hours earlier this week.
York Regional Police say the victim was kidnapped at a commercial plaza in the area of Steeles Ave. E. and Ferrier St. – west of Warden Ave. – shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
“The victim was confronted by three (abductors) and forced into a dark-coloured Hyundai Santa Fe with Ontario licence plate CTKC 540,” Const. Kevin Nebrija said in a statement released Wednesday.
He said three suspects were arrested, and the victim was found with minor injuries near Jane St. and Black Creek Dr., in Toronto, just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
No further details were released, so the motive for the kidnapping is unknown.
Evan Gurdon Ferlias, 23, of Toronto, Junior Daniel Talbert, 19, of Toronto, and Osei-Jelani Joyce, 22, of Midland, are each charged with kidnapping and forcible confinement.
Gurdon Ferlias is also charged with failure to comply with a probation order.
“At the time of his arrest, Gurdon Ferlias was out on a probation order for unrelated charges,” Nebrija said.

Police are still trying to locate the vehicle that was used in the abduction.
“The licence plate observed on the suspect vehicle is not registered to the Hyundai Santa Fe,” Nebrija said.
“This was a targeted incident and there is no threat to public safety,” he said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information, including dashcam video of the suspect vehicle or the area at the time of the incident, is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
