TOP CLICKS: The week that was in viral stories

Article content
The Toronto Sun takes you straight to the heart of the action.
Whether it’s local news, provincial and national politics, or the worlds of celebrity and sports, we have you covered.
Some stories set the world on fire. And these ones are the most popular online stories from the past seven days, clicked on by Sun readers like you.
Here are our top stories:
WARMINGTON: Alleged teen Porsche thief gets bail in Peel, then detained by Toronto cops
Two of our top stories this week centre on Joe Warmington’s reports on “Porsche Girl,” so either our readers really like Porsches or you are hoping for an outcome that sees the alleged car thief behind bars.
Well, sorry to disappoint but that isn’t the case.
Warmington’s first report was on 18-year-old Sarah Badshaw’s slingshot to freedom, then back to jail after she was released on bail by Peel Regional Police — after video was released showing a woman stealing a Porsche SUV while pretending to be interested in buying it, then running over the vehicle’s owner — before Toronto cops nabbed her while conducting their own investigation into car thefts in the GTA.
However, that wasn’t the end because — you guessed it — she was released again.
Bail twice in two days. Will there be a third time for the teen?

‘OH MY GOD’: Brady reaches breaking point during Cowboys broadcast
That sound you heard was one syllable coming from longtime frustrated Dallas Cowboys fans to Tom Brady was: “See!”
And that was followed by, “THIS is what we’ve been dealing with for years.”
The legendary quarterback-turned-NFL analyst was working on his third straight Cowboys game and that was perhaps three games too many.
Brady appeared to reach his breaking point during their quarter last weekend, which up until that point, the Cowboys were losing to the Baltimore Ravens 28-6, Dan Bilicki reported.
Brady was mid-analysis when the refs called a false start on Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb — which led the newbie sports commentator to stop and say, “Another penalty, oh my God.”
It was a rough start for Brady, so far, but fans loved the candid moment. More of that, please.

Homophobia accusations nearly get Trudeau booted from House
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nearly got himself ejected from the House of Commons earlier this week after refusing to withdraw a remark accusing the Conservatives of being homophobic.
Key word: “Nearly.”
So, spoiler alert, he stuck around, despite mishearing a comment that he apparently thought was a comment about himself and House Speaker Greg Fergus sharing a tub, Bryan Passifiume reported.
A source in the House, however, said the comment was a flippant question about Clark taking meetings in that bathtub with no mention of the PM.

But that didn’t stop Trudeau from saying the Liberals were “used to casual homophobic comments from the other side of the House,” before he was cut off.
Trudeau remained, referring to the Tories as “bullies” who should be called out “on their crap,” to which Fergus asked a second time for him the PM to withdraw his remarks.
Trudeau “happily” went rogue one last time before being the “better person.”
And that was just the cherry on top of an already chaotic question period. Pass the popcorn!

Golfer body-slammed, hospitalized after insulting fellow duffer’s wife
It was golf meets wrestling on a course in Indiana last week when a golfer was knocked unconscious, allegedly stopped breathing for 10 seconds and was hospitalized after a wild altercation that included one man arguing with a group “cutting,” despite him and his own group stopping to order food at the clubhouse.
One golfer tried to cool his friend’s jets but the man wasn’t able to let the “proper golf etiquette” slight go, and that escalated into insults directed at a player’s wife, which resulted in one man body-slamming another — and ended with one in hospital and another in handcuffs.

WARMINGTON: Dine-and-dash suspect in Blue Mountain charged with assault
A viral video of an alleged dine-and-dash incident — with profanity and accusations of threats between a customer and a waiter at the Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood — has now resulted in a criminal charge.
A 38-year-old Brampton man, who allegedly left a massive unpaid bill at one of the resort’s restaurants, was charged — but not for skipping the bill, which cops said was settled in full shortly after the incident was caught on camera.
Rather, he was charged with assault and uttering threats to cause bodily harm, Warmington reported.
Something good came out of a fight caught on social media. Who woulda thunk?
