Mitch Marner cancels annual charity event in Toronto in ominous sign for free agent

If you didn’t think Mitch Marner already had one foot out the door, the Maple Leafs winger cancelling his annual charity event in the city is the latest sign that his time in Toronto is almost up, Lance Hornby reported.

The All-Star Invitational, which usually features a number of NHL and special guests for fans to meet and watch compete, was scheduled for July 10-11 but is no longer happening.

Marner had held the event annually since 2018, with the exception of 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

“The event is not happening this year,” a spokesperson confirmed to Postmedia. “But please note, the Marner Assist Foundation will continue to honour all its commitments made to our charitable partners in the communities we serve. We are grateful to all that support MAF as volunteers, donors, and sponsors.”

Tick-tock.

But as the NHL playoffs once again dragged into the middle of June and teams around the league re-tool, Rob Longley suggested the franchise that needs the most revamping is the one that brings most Canadian hockey fans the action.

In fact, the Sportsnet crew needs so much work that Longley found 15 faults for them to work on.

SIMMONS: The mystery of Mitch Marner – the greatest unpopular player in Leafs history

Doug Gilmour. Darryl Sittler. Wendel Clark. Dave Keon.

If you expect Mitch Marner’s name to be on that list, think again.

According to Steve Simmons, Marner may be one of the “great, uncanny talents in the modern history of Maple Leafs” but if he leaves Toronto, it will be under indifferent circumstances.

Stunning Italian TV presenter goes viral at FIFA Club World Cup

The FIFA Club World Cup currently being held across the United States has its share of problems, but there is one very bright spot: Eleonora Incardona.

The Italian TV host for DAZN has gone viral for how much she has travelled just days into the near-month-long tournament, Dan Bilicki reported.

It also helps that she’s easy on the eyes.

Kidding.

Conor McGregor floors man in wild scene at Ibiza club after partying with model

Conor McGregor still has loads of fight in him – just not in any sort of ring or octagon.

Instead, the Irish former UFC champion was reportedly drinking until 6 a.m. on Tuesday when he appeared to be caught on video delivering a smackdown to a man with just two punches at a nightclub in Ibiza, Bilicki reported.

The scrap came after McGregor – who is a big fan of the party destination – was spotted partying with British model Katie Price and Tottenham Hotspur’s Kevin Danso.

McGregor has not publicly commented on the scuffle, but it appears he still wants to become president of Ireland.

The public brawls probably shouldn’t be a part of any campaigning, though.
