Even the Toronto Humane Society has been gripped by Taylor Swift fever as the pop star and famous cat lover begins her six show run at Rogers Centre on Thursday.
The shelter has named 17 cats after Swift’s most famous songs, albums and lyrics and will play her music through the cat adoption halls, “bringing happiness, calm and comfort to the cats and celebrating her arrival,” according to a THS release.
The animal rescue has also written a letter to Swift asking for her to visit its River St. shelter.
“As fellow cat fans, we’d love to welcome you in for a private tour of our shelter and introduce you to this one-of-a-kind ‘cat-alogue,’” says the letter.
“It’s our way of saying thank you for showing the world that life as a cat parent is full of joy, love, and a little bit of magic. Your visit would bring extra awareness to pet adoption in Toronto, and maybe even inspire a few fans to adopt their own ‘Swiftie’ in your honour.”
The special group of Swift-inspired shelter cats includes Folklore, Evermore, Red, Midnights, Willow, Marjorie, August, and Champagne, along with Swiftie and Cornelia.
THS also just welcomed seven newly transferred kittens into their care with names like Reputation, Travis, Kelce, Dorothea, Benjamin, Taylor, and Karma.
“We’re thrilled to offer this heartfelt homage to Taylor’s music and her love of cats,” said Melissa Shupak, the THS’ director of animal sheltering.
