Toronto man desperately searching for stolen dog

Have you seen Toots?

The friendly English Bulldog-Boston Terrier cross was stolen from Alexandra Park just over a week ago when her owner, Kolin Davidson, sat on the grass with his dog and dozed off for a few minutes.

The dog is microchipped and Davidson had a GPS device on her, too. In fact, he knows, more or less, who took the dog.

He also knows that person sold the dog — probably for drugs — and he knows to whom the dog was sold. He gathered that information on his own.

The police haven’t helped him yet, although he was told Friday an officer has finally been assigned to the case.

That officer returns from holidays next week.

For the past eight days, Davidson has been sick with worry over his beloved dog. He hasn’t really slept since the dog was taken.

And despite his best efforts to keep it together, Davidson broke down once or twice as he explained to the Sun what happened to Toots.

His time has been filled searching for the animal, putting up lost dog posters…and fielding alleged extortion and ransom calls. He received one such call, while we spoke to him Friday afternoon, from someone who claimed to have the dog and demanded money.

What kind of scum tries to take advantage of a person in Davidson’s situation?

There are posters of Toots all around Alexandra Park, Kensington Market and points west, so please be on the lookout for the dog. Contact info is on the posters.

Toots is a very friendly pooch and no doubt keen to get back home.

And Davidson would like his best friend back.
