Toronto is set to receive the year’s latest quarterly payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG,) amounting to more than $9.1 million for hosting Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, located at Woodbine Racetrack in Etobicoke.
“OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to Toronto,” said Ontario Tourism Minister Stan Cho in a statement.
“In addition to creating jobs at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, important investments in Toronto’s public services are made possible through OLG’s sharing of casino revenue.”
In the 25 years since the casino opened, Toronto has received in excess of $424 million in gaming revenues from the OLG.
Payments to host communities are based on a graduated scale of gaming revenues from their hosted casinos, with OLG paying out almost $2.3 billion to host communities since 1994.
