The Taste of the Danforth has been cancelled for a second year in a row.

That means no food vendors, live music, entertainment or other attractions along the city’s Greektown neighbourhood this weekend. The event is traditionally held during the second week of August.

According to a statement sent to the Toronto Sun from Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow’s office: “The organizers did not apply for either festival funding or a street permit for this year. No permit or funding applications in 2025.”

While the executive director for the Greektown BIA told the Sun in an email that she wasn’t authorized to comment, the the chair of the Greektown BIA told CTV the group is working to bring back the festival next year.

Last year, the east-end street festival was cancelled due to funding constraints.

The Sun reached also reached out to Toronto City Councillor Paula Fletcher, who represents the area, but she didn’t respond by deadline. She has told CTV: The organizer that had always done that festival wasn’t available.”
