A little before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Peel police were dispatched to a home on Quarry Edge Dr. in the Main St. and Bovaird Rd. area for reports of a domestic incident.
Once there, officers breached the door and encountered what sources describe as a ‘tremendous’ amount of blood at the scene.
Monica Hudon with the SIU said police located a 47-year-old man in a bathroom with stab wounds, and a gravely wounded 41-year-old woman on the upper floor.
Taken into custody and attended to by Peel Paramedics, the man was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

Emergency crews found a woman without vital signs inside the home. She was rushed to hospital where she later died.

A 12-year-old boy was also found stabbed, and was rushed to Sick Kids hospital.
Sources close to the case have identified the deceased as Naveed Pratap, 47, and Shubangi Amin, who is 41. The children’s names are Advaith, 12, and Shara, 3, and don’t share the same last name as either deceased.
Sources tell the Toronto Sun the boy managed to flee the residence and sought refuge at a neighbour’s house, where he called 911, Hudon said.
While he’s expected to recover from his physical injuries, the source says the lad’s mental scars will take some time to heal.
Another source said a three-year-old girl was also found inside the home, but was unharmed.
Hudon declined to go into detail about the relationship between the man and woman, only saying the two were known to each other.

The case is being jointly investigated by Peel Regional Police and the SIU.
“The SIU is investigating what happened with the man (and police) in the bathroom,” Hudon said.
Brittney Monhehan, who lives just doors from the scene, told the Sun her daughter was a playmate with the little girl.
“I’m shocked and in horror,” she said.
“It’s horrific this little girl and boy have no parents. I don’t understand stand how something like this could happen, but you never know what goes on in someone’s home.”
She didn’t want to comment on the mother, who she sometimes walked with while taking the kids to school.
“I spoke with teachers this morning and they are going to have people come in and talk to the kids,” she said.
“I don’t know how to explain this to my daughter.”
Both Peel Police and the SIU continue to investigate.
