Two more shootings in Scarborough on Thursday night are believed to be connected to the tow truck industry according to other media reports.
But Toronto Police wouldn’t confirm that connection on Friday.

In the latest shooting, cops say a man in his 20s suffered a gunshot wound in the area of Lawrence Ave. E. and Greencrest Circuit – near Markham Rd. – shortly after 11:30 p.m. and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A dark-coloured vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.
In the second shooting, police say there were reports of gunshots in the area of Markham Rd. and Passmore Ave. – south of Steeles Ave. E. – just after 5 p.m.
A dark vehicle was seen fleeing the scene with no suspect description.
Cops say two victims later turned up at hospital on their own and the extent of their injuries are unknown.
These two shootings follow a tow truck driver in his 20s getting shot around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Markham Rd. and Finch Ave. E.
That victim was in serious but non-life-threatening condition and was taken to hospital via an emergency run.
No suspect information has been released.

A police spokesman did say Friday that “gun violence tied to the tow truck industry continues to be a serious issue, with 62 tow truck-related shootings incidents in 2024, accounting for 13% of all shooting incidents in Toronto.”
To that end, police did launch a Tow Truck Task Force in August “adopting a service-wide approach to combat tow truck-related crimes. This violence, while alarming, is driven by a small segment of the industry engaged in territorial conflicts.”
