The alleged assault happened near Kennedy and Merrian Rds. around 3:35 p.m. Police say a group of 10 to 15 youths reportedly attacked the uniformed employees on the bus before fleeing the area.
There has not been any information released regarding suspects.
“There were two on-duty TTC operators who were on their way to a relief point to pick up their vehicle and go about their shift and they were attacked by, as police have described, a group of 10 to 15 people,” TTC spokesperson Stuart Green told CP24. “At this point, we are working with police to pull video and get them any evidence we can as they investigate this despicable act. It is absolutely inexcusable.”
According to Green, the victims were treated on scene by paramedics and were not hospitalized. He said the bus operator wasn’t physically harmed, but was “emotionally impacted” by the incident.

“They are shaken up. It’s understandable,” Green said, adding employees will be provided various supports.
Police have not released any details about what led to the attack.
This incident comes mere days after a TTC bus operator was shot with a BB gun while waiting to take over a bus in the Markham Rd.-Progress Ave. area. The employee was not physically injured in that incident.
Mayor John Tory condemned that attack, calling it “shameful.”
Two days earlier, police investigated an alleged assault at the Bloor-Yonge subway station as a hate crime after a victim was allegedly struck on the head, causing him to lose a religious head covering.
In December, eight girls were charged with second-degree murder after allegedly swarming and fatally attacking 59-year-old homeless man Ken Lee in downtown Toronto.
