STRIKEOUT: Video captures woman punching cop during Blue Jays home opener

A woman is accused of punching a cop after a fight erupted between baseball fans during the Blue Jays home opener Friday night.

Toronto Police say officers responded to an assault call in the 500 level at the Rogers Centre around 10:20 p.m.

“A woman and man were involved in a physical altercation with several other patrons at a Toronto Blue Jays game,” Const. Edward Parks said in a statement released Saturday.

“Officers attended, attempting to separate the groups and deescalate the situation,” he said. “The woman and man were advised to vacate the stadium due to disorderly behavior.”

However, Parks said the woman “turned and punched the officer in the face.”

Video of the incident, posted on social media, shows police and security escorting the woman down the stairs in the stands when she suddenly spins around and throws a hard right hand at a female officer’s face.

Two officers and the security guard quickly take the woman down and restrain her hands behind her back as bystanders looked on from their seats.

While thousands of Jays fans went on to enjoy a thrilling 10-8 comeback win over the Texas Rangers, the brazen woman was arrested.

The 27-year-old Toronto resident, whose name was not released, is charged with assaulting a police officer and being intoxicated in a public place.
