York Regional Police say officers responded to the home invasion in the area of Steeles Ave. E. and Grandview Ave. – east of Bayview Ave. – around 4 a.m. on Monday.

Five home invaders, at least two of whom were armed with hammers, “entered the residence by smashing the rear door,” Const. James Dickson said Wednesday.

He said the crooks then “threatened the victim, demanded the keys to his Ferrari and a BMW Sports Utility Vehicle and forced him to open his garage door.”

Investigators later located the suspect vehicle, a stolen black Acura TLX believed to have been used by the home invaders, near Steeles Ave. and Martin Grove Rd. in Toronto.

“Members of the Hold-Up Unit contained the vehicle and two youths were taken into custody shortly afterward,” Dickson said.

Police are still looking for two suspects described as male, 16 to 20 years old, who were wearing dark clothing.

Investigators have released video of the home invasion hoping it will help lead to the identification and arrests of the two outstanding suspects.

It’s believed the stolen Acura used by the home invaders was previously involved in a Markham jewelry store robbery – near Hwy. 7 E. and McCowan Rd. – on Oct. 21.
