One of those kids — an eight-year-old girl — was thrown from the hijacked truck near Burnhamthorpe Rd. and Confederation Pkwy. onFriday, July 24th. The girl’s little brother, 6, was also shaken up and has had difficulty coping since the incident.
The carjacker responsible for this frightening incident has had an edge in evading Peel Regional Police for a week now because his identity was unknown.
However, investigators have now identified a suspect and on Thursday they issued a Canada-wide warrant out for the arrest of Trestin Cassanova-Alman, who is already on bail for charges stemming from a major drug bust in Port Hope on July 2.
The Mississauga man, 19, is also wanted for a series of bank and pharmacy robberies. The carjacking was allegedly the result of trying avoid arrest after a shootout with cops.
This means this man is considered armed and dangerous.

But rather than having another violent confrontation that next time could result in death or serious injuries, Chief Nishan Duraiappah and Deputy Chief Nick Millnovich are offering some safe advice — contact a lawyer and make arrangements to turn himself in to police.
“This type of dangerous crime spree is unacceptable and needs to come to an end before anyone else is injured or traumatized,” Millnovich said.
The Chief added: “This could have very easily ended in loss of innocent life.”
Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3410, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
