Witnesses sought in single-vehicle crash that badly injured driver in King Township

Investigators are trying to determine what led to a single-vehicle crash that left the driver seriously injured earlier this week in King Township.

York Regional Police say officers responded to reports of a white sedan that had left the roadway on Dufferin St. – north of Davis Dr. – around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

“When officers arrived, they discovered the vehicle had veered off the road, coming to rest in thick brush,” Const. Lisa Moskaluk said in a statement Wednesday. “An off-duty paramedic was on scene and had begun providing aid to the male driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.”

She the motorist suffered “serious injuries” and was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.

“The circumstances surrounding the cause of the collision remain under investigation,” Moskaluk said, explaining no other vehicles were involved.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, observed the white sedan prior to the incident, or has dashcam or home surveillance video that captured the vehicle in the area to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
