Officers were called on June 27 to the Weston Rd.-Black Creek Dr. area for a request to check on an address, where they found biological remains and chemicals inside an apartment unit, said Toronto Police.
The service’s chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear and hazmat teams were called to remove the chemicals, police said, before “testing by Ontario Forensic Pathology Services confirmed the biological remains to be human.”
The victim has since been identified as Selvin Paz Majia, 40, of Honduras, and officers with the homicide and missing persons unit are investigating.
Mariana Hernandez, 22, was arrested on July 25 and charged with first-degree murder and improper/indecent interference with a dead body.
Police urged anyone with information to call 416-808-7400.
