Toronto police say officers responded to the suspected hate-motivated threat in the area of Avenue Rd. and Wilson Ave. – where a crowd of pro-Palestine protesters and pro-Israel counterprotesters shut down the Hwy. 401 overpass on Dec. 24 – around 3 p.m.
The alleged victim was demonstrating in the area and was approached by a woman who became “verbally aggressive” towards them, police claim in a statement released Friday.
Police allege the woman made “several threatening gestures,” causing the other person to “fear for their safety.”
Investigators released an image of a woman on Thursday hoping members of the public could help identify her.
Police say the suspect was identified later that day and she was arrested.
Nicole Ziegler, of Thornhill, is charged with uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
In a video posted on X on Dec. 24, a woman believed to be the accused is seen with a gathering of pro-Israel counterprotesters making a throat-slitting gesture.
