A 43-year-old woman is accused of attacking two strangers and attempting to snatch a cop’s gun in Oshawa on Monday afternoon.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to an assault at a store near Laval Dr. and Stevenson Rd. S. – north of Hwy. 401 – around 4:30 p.m.
A woman allegedly assaulted one person inside the store and that person then managed to get away, Const. Emily Mitchell explained in a statement released Wednesday.
She said police arrived and the woman then allegedly began “physically assaulting” a second person.
“When officers intervened, the suspect attempted to take an officer’s firearm and was quickly arrested,” Mitchell alleged.
She said both victims were treated for minor injuries.
And neither of the victims knew the accused assailant prior to this incident.
Amy Parsons, 43, of Oshawa, is charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and one count each of taking a weapon of a peace officer in execution of duties.
She was held for a bail hearing.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call police at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2053, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
