It was around 7:10 p.m. when Rae Cara Carrington, 51, of Toronto, was stabbed multiple times at the Fast Fresh Foods lunch counter where she worked in the food court at Commerce Court in the King and Bay Sts. area.
Truong was working across the hall at the Barber and Co. when the stabbing happened.
“This lady was screaming in pain. She got stabbed and soon the ambulance showed up. There were a lot of people around but I didn’t go close,” Truong said Thursday.

It was closing time time at Fast Fresh when Carrington was murdered and Thursday morning all the food was still out on the counters surrounded by police tape.
There would have been at least two front staff and a dishwasher working at that hour, said Rob Jende, who works across the hall at Buster’s Sea Cove.

“It’s pretty shocking this could happen because it would be right after rush hour and there would be a lot of people still around,” Jende said.
“We do believe this was a targeted attack,” Insp. Anthony Paoletta said Wednesday night, adding it was too early in the investigation to speak about any relationship between the victim and the alleged killer.
The male suspect is described as white, 20-30 years, about 5-foot-8 with a medium build, dark hair and facial hair. He was wearing a light-coloured ball cap, a black hooded sweater with a white T-shirt underneath, dark pants and dark shoes.
Global News has reported from sources that Carrington was a mother of eight.
In December, 2015, another woman — newlywed Rosemarie Junor — was fatally stabbed at a Shoppers Drug Mart in the PATH system. Rohinie Bisesar has been found not criminally responsible for the killing.
