Woman with child victim of Mississauga carjacking, cops say

A woman who was about to drive away in a rental vehicle in Mississauga early Wednesday evening was the victim of a carjacking, police say.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the area of Britannia Rd. W. and Silken Laumann Way near Heartland Town Centre, according to Peel Regional Police.

“As the victim was accessing her rental vehicle in a parking lot in that area, two suspects approached her and fled with the victim’s vehicle,” police said in an emailed statement.

A third suspect in the suspect vehicle also fled from the scene, cops added.

The woman was with her child when the carjackers approached. There were no reports of injuries.

Police didn’t say if the suspects were armed.

“Our Central Robbery Bureau has taken carriage of this investigation and are working diligently to investigate this matter,” police said.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
