After executing three search warrants in May, Toronto Police, with the assistance of the Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force, made an arrest on Tuesday.
The first robbery was reported on May 5 at 11:42 p.m., when police responded to reports of a carjacking in the Islington Ave.-Jutland Rd. area. The victim was sitting in their vehicle when two people – one armed with a handgun – approached the driver’s side.
The victim was pepper-sprayed and the suspects fled with the victim’s vehicle.
A second robbery was reported on May 8 at about 12:40 p.m., when police responded to a robbery call in the Kingston Rd.-Midland Ave. area. Four people entered a business and one of them pointed a firearm at employees, who were told to open the cash register. Clothing and other items were taken from the store.
A 17-year-old from Toronto was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm and other offences.
