BAMFORD: My appeal to fellow women on why you need to support Poilievre

Boomer and Gen X women need to break free from the mean girls bonds and reject group think

It always astounds me the groupthink mentality that develops among women my age group – Boomers and Gen Xers. It is like they are unable to break free of their high school bonds. Instead of the washrooms and cafeteria, it’s now book club, Facebook, yoga class, and school pick-up where the mean girls club dispenses their wisdom and the other ladies must follow or risk expulsion.

I find this phenomenon exceptionally unusual when many of the women don’t particularly like the mean girls but nevertheless feel compelled to follow them in their political leanings. In our generation’s case, they are usually left leaning.

In the Canadian election, I see this with regards to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. Some women in my demographic tell me they don’t like him — yet they can’t provide a single policy they don’t support.

This election will be the most consequential election for our children and our grandchildren. The Liberal Party of Canada has wasted your hard-earned money. Check out the green slush fund where millions of our tax dollars went to Liberal insiders or companies that delivered absolutely nothing. Same with the pandemic money. These are just a few of many scandals.

The Liberals also taxed you to near death in the form of carbon taxes and they drove businesses out of this country with unaffordable energy, taxes, and red tape. Those are your kid’s jobs disappearing.

The Liberals picked winners and losers in the business space instead of letting companies rise and fall of their own merit.

They may have a new leader in Mark Carney but he was the economic advisor to Justin Trudeau – so many, if not all, of Trudeau’s policies are Carney’s as well.

Canada is blessed to have abundant natural resources. Not only could tapping into the resource sector provide high-paying jobs to our kids, but if the Liberals truly cared about the environment, they would get our clean liquefied natural gas to market so that China and India could ease off coal.

When our allies came to Canada asking for our natural gas, the Liberal Party sent them packing off to buy it from countries with far fewer environmental regulations, depriving us of prosperity, and hurting the environment together.

I am calling on my fellow Boomer and Gen X women to break free from the mean girls bonds. Reject group think. Use your heads and put aside your emotions and look at the records of each party.

Every decent policy Mark Carney is now advocating for is in fact stolen from the Conservatives and Poilievre. Yet there is good reason to believe the Liberals will revert back to their disastrous policies once this election is over. This will get us right back to where we were under Trudeau.

Same team, same radical policies that will continue to drive our economy down, send jobs away from Canada, and deprive our children of the prosperity they could have.

Sorry ladies, but “I don’t like Pierre” no longer cuts it. Not in this election. It is weak-minded and does not honour your role as protector of your children.

Elections have consequences. Choose wisely. The future of your kids and grandchildren depends on it.
