Jagmeet Singh to step down as NDP Leader after losing seat

OTTAWA — Jagmeet Singh says he will step down as the leader of the NDP as soon as new interim leader is chosen.

Singh conceded defeat in his British Columbia riding of Burnaby Central and the party is at risk of losing official party status.

It's been the honour of my life to lead the NDP, and to represent the people of Burnaby Central.

Congratulations to Prime Minister Carney, and to all the other leaders on a hard-fought campaign.
