Liberals to unveil platform on Saturday

OTTAWA – The Mark Carney Liberals will unveil their 2025 election platform on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters Friday morning from a press conference overlooking Niagara Falls, Carney said the platform will “build a new Canadian economy” built on new housing, clean energy and standing up to American aggression.

“Our task over the next weeks, months and years is to think big, and act bigger,” he said. “That’s what my government’s platform, our strategy, our plan will do.”

Surviving the U.S. trade war, Carney said, is all about being prepared – and realizing that U.S. President Donald Trump’s ultimate goal is to break Canada’s resolve before taking over completely.

“In this crisis it means preparing for America’s threats to our very sovereignty,” he said. “It’s clear the U.S. wants our land, wants our resources, wants our water and wants our country.”

Carney’s professional life, he said, has been all about successfully navigating crises.

“I helped us manage through the 2008 financial crisis, I helped guide the U.K. through the Brexit turmoil,” he said.

“I know – not just what it takes to survive a crisis, to get through a crisis – but what it takes to emerge stronger than before.”
