Starting Monday, air travellers arriving in Canada will be required — at their own expense — to book a three-day stay at one of several approved hotels.
In Toronto, those hotels are the Alt Hotel at 6080 Viscount Rd., Four Points Sheraton at 6257 Airport Rd., Holiday Inn Toronto Airport at 970 Dixon Rd., and Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Terminal 3 at Pearson airport.
More hotels may be added, the government said.
Bookings will be managed by American Express Global Business Travel, and can only be made by phone at 1-800-294-8253.
The mandatory hotel stays only apply to those arriving by air who travelled for non-essential reasons.
Costs of the stay will vary by location, and include room, transportation, food, security and infection prevention measures.

Breaking quarantine or not following the rules upon landing can result in fines up to $750,000 and six months in prison, while penalties for rulebreakers who cause serious illness or death upon others increase to $1 million and three years behind bars.
International flights are currently only allowed to land in four Canadian cities: Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal.
