Ford recalls vehicles in Canada and U.S. over software glitch affecting rearview camera

WASHINGTON — Ford is recalling more than a million vehicles due to a software issue that can cause the rearview camera to malfunction, increasing the chance of an accident, U.S. government auto regulators said.
The software error, which Ford reported to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and was posted on Transport Canada’s website earlier this month, may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.
The problem will be fixed by a dealer or via an “over-the-air” update at a later date.
Tranport Canada’s says Ford will notify owners by mail.
Drivers affected by the recall can also contact a Ford dealership to schedule an appointment to have the update performed.
The following Ford vehicles — a total of 1,075,299 in the U.S. and an unspecified number in Canada — are included in the recall:
2021-2024 Bronco
2021-2024 Edge
2023-2024 Escape
2021-2024 F-150
2023-2024 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600
