KINSELLA: Justin Trudeau finally sees the jig is up
Warren Kinsella’s column on Justin Trudeau from last week could easily be titled “Liar, liar, pants on fire,” but comparing him to an attractive alien will have to do.
In fact, there’s no way to paraphrase any of his words so instead, here’s our favourite paragraph: “He’s one of those liars who lies so effortlessly, you can tell he believe the lies, too. He achieves that state of gracelessness by never exposing himself to contrary facts.”
Kinsella says Trudeau does not pay attention to the media or read anything about himself — but that all changed after he fired Chrystia Freeland and she quit on him.
Because after she dropped her “Dear Justin” resignation letter, Trudeau realized just how in trouble his gig as prime minister is.
Father and son duke it out on the ice in viral video from Saskatchewan men’s league game
Watching two men fight it out on the ice is nothing new for hockey fans but watching a father and son scrap during a men’s league game in Saskatchewan was a whole other level of awkward.
The two men, who play for opposing teams, squared off during the third period of a “fan appreciation night” that probably made parents in attendance hug their kids a little closer after witnessing the family shenanigans.
And the two didn’t hold back, Dan Bilicki reported, pummelling one another until Dad took down son before the refs skated in.
Given that the game was right before the holiday season, we can’t even imagine what Christmas dinner was like.
Hells Angels-linked Canadian gangster killed in targeted Mexico hit
Death came a-knocking for a Quebec man wanted for drug trafficking and links to the Hells Angels.
Mathieu “Barbu” Bélanger, 39, of Repentigny, was killed in a targeted hit in Mexico while on the run from a Canada-wide warrant, Brad Hunter reported.
Belanger, who Quebec cops say was a high-ranking member of the gang, was part of a cartel that exported massive quantities of cocaine to the province and throughout Canada.
The gangster, his partner, Andrée-Anne Vignola Sullivan, and their three children, had been living in Playa del Carmen for the last two years, thanks to fake Mexican documents.
Sullivan is wanted in connection with the investigation, while cops in Mexico are working on piecing together the connection between Belanger, the Hells Angels and Mexican drug cartels.
Confusion reigns over proposed capital gains inclusion rate hike
Despite no bill ever being tabled to increase Canada’s capital gains inclusion rate, reports suggest the Canada Revenue Agency may move ahead with the proposed changes.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) quoted an official with the CRA suggesting the increase from the current 50% rate to the 66% proposed in the 2024 budget may still apply, which CFIB’s CEO Dan Kelly said “makes no sense at all.”
The new 66% capital gains inclusion rate was to take effect June 25, as outlined in the government’s spring budget, but no bill was ever introduced into parliament.

LILLEY: Poilievre promises to end woke culture in military
It’s no secret that the federal government gives Canada’s military peanuts, but if and when elected our nation’s next prime minister, Pierre Poilievre promised not only to spend more money on rebuilding the Canadian Armed Forces, but also to put an end to the woke culture forced upon them by the Trudeau Liberals.
The Conservative Leader told Brian Lilley the social experiments of the Trudeau Liberals have no place in Canada’s military.
Because the last thing Ukrainian troops need is a lecture from Canadian advisors on gender issues.
Really.
Now, how does that relate to Ukraine’s fight against Russia?
