The next closest gold ball prize was $64 million, which was drawn in April 2023.
That ticket was sold in New Brunswick and the winner still has not come forward, OLG’s Director of Communications Tony Bitonti confirmed to the Toronto Sun.
However, someone has come forward with the second most recent gold ball ticket, which was sold on June 14 in Niagara Falls.
“They’ve started the prizing process,” Bitonti detailed. “They have to come in to start the prize claim review, which usually takes a few hours.”
On prizes higher than $25 million, an electronic transfer takes place about 24 hours after they’ve been confirmed the winner or whenever the winner wants to get paid.

“Some want it right away, some want to take a couple of days,” Bitonti said.
And while $1 million is small potatoes compared to some of these other grand prizes, $1 million is still $1 million – which is how much one unclaimed ticket that was sold in Mississauga is worth.
That ticket is set to expire on Oct. 14, Bitonti said.
For national games like Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49 and Daily Grand, “any unclaimed prizes go back into the national prize pool for jackpots,” Bitonti explained.
Unclaimed prize money for regional games like Lottario and Ontario 49, go back to OLG, which Bitonti said would eventually make its way back to the games “because we will use that money for more instant games” and the like.
Moral of the story: “Check your tickets right away,” Bitonti advised, whether it be at a retailer, the self-checker or through the OLG app.
“It’s not our money,” he said. “Somebody bought a ticket for a chance at that jackpot and they won! So don’t wait!”
