“Upon arrival, officers observed a business had been vandalized. One suspect, a 19-year-old woman, was arrested for mischief, as the investigation continues further criminal charges may be laid,” OPS spokesperson Const. Cailey Walker said in an email.

Climate activist group Last Generation Canada took responsibility for the action, which included a supporter spraying Ottawa’s Tesla showroom with “washable pink paint,” the group said in a media statement, and said it was part of a demand for Canada to “stand up to Tesla’s billionaire CEO Elon Musk, who is destroying democracies and spreading climate denial.”

The group identified the sprayer as Eulalie Reesink-Babillon.

“I took this action because our government prioritizes Big Oil and corporate giants like Tesla over its own people. This year, Los Angeles burned, exposing the U.S. government’s complete lack of preparedness—29 lives were lost. Canada is just as unprepared for the climate catastrophes we’re going to see this summer,” she said in a press statement. “The Trump administration continues to condemn nonviolent resistance like ours, proving that civil disobedience is effective. The time for civil resistance is now.”

Walker said since the investigation is ongoing, no further details will be provided.
