Cops appeal for witnesses after firearm allegedly pointed at QEW commuters

Police in the Niagara Region are seeking witnesses after a driver was allegedly spotted pointing a firearm at other vehicles on a major highway.

The OPP’s Highway Safety Division said officers responded to reports of a person allegedly pointing a weapon at other drivers on a Niagara-bound section of the QEW Sunday afternoon at about 4 p.m.

They said a suspect was stopped and taken into custody near the QEW interchange at Glendale Ave., near outlet malls east of St. Catharines.

“An imitation handgun was seized, and the driver is facing charges,” the OPP said in a social media post.
