“I’m proud to offer him my support to be the next leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and I look forward to working with him in the days and months ahead to make sure we do the best for the people of Ontario and Canada,” the statement wrote.

As the Ontario election enters the home stretch, the Doug Ford PCs are on track to maintain the majority government they had going into the campaign, with a Monday poll by Nanos Research giving the Tories 44% support.

Both the Liberals and NDPs are in a lopsided battle for second place, with the Liberals garnering 29% support, ahead of the Ontario NDP (19.8%) and the Greens with 4.8%.

Ontarians choose their next provincial government on Thursday.
