OPP say the family heard gunshots around the time the dog went missing and was led to believe their dog has been shot and killed by their neighbour.

Police say the dog’s body has since been recovered.

After speaking with all parties involved, police say they charged the neighbour, Ralph Boake, of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, with killing or injuring animals.

Police say he is expected to appear in court in September.
