Cops believe Derek Perry mysteriously vanished off the street in Alliston sometime in mid-June 2023.
Two years later, OPP homicide detectives announced late Wednesday that two people were arrested in connection with the “beloved” father’s disappearance. Police said at the time they were concerned for Perry’s well-being.
The remains of Perry have still not been found, and he is presumed to have been murdered.
Over the past two years, police have made several public appeals seeking information about Perry’s fate and/or whereabouts. Some of those questions were answered late Wednesday in a terse press release.

OPP announced that following a two-year investigation, they arrested Eddy Gagnon, 30, and Krystal Carleton, 36, both of New Tecumseth. Gagnon faces charges of second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body, while Carleton is charged with indignity to a dead body and being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Investigators did not offer a motive for the murder, and they are continuing the search for Perry’s remains.
Months after the suspected homicide, Carleton and another woman were arrested and charged in connection with a slew of thefts from a local tire shop. A search warrant was executed at an Alliston home where officers allegedly seized 50 grams of cocaine and $1,000 worth of stolen tires.

The mother of three was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The outcome of those charges is not known.
In 2017, Carleton was arrested in a routine traffic stop in New Tecumseth and the officer determined she was a suspended driver. Cops allegedly found a quantity of cocaine in the 2003 Ford Explorer.
She was charged with possession of Cocaine, driving while under suspension and driving with an unsealed container of liquor. A Barrie resident, Margaret Quehe, 33, was also charged with possession of cocaine.
The outcome of the 2017 charges is also unknown.
The OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking additional information from the public. Anyone who can help with the case is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
