Thief pretending to be PSW preys on retirement facilities: York police

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who police say stole from retirement residence seniors — despite being on “strict conditions” to steer clear of such facilities.
York Regional Police say they were called Feb. 17 to a Newmarket retirement home in the Davis Dr. and Roxborough Rd. area.

“The suspect presented himself as a personal support worker to gain access to the facility and entered multiple residential units,” police alleged in a news release Thursday. “The suspect fled when confronted by staff and dropped a gold watch that he took from a resident’s room.”
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding Dhruvin Radadiya, 26, of no fixed address, and have released a photo.
“Radadiya is currently on a release order for similar offences and is on strict conditions not to be within 50 metres of any retirement home, nursing home, or senior residence in Ontario,” police noted, adding they “believe the suspect is responsible for additional incidents that have yet to be reported and are encouraging victims to come forward.”
Radadiya is wanted for six counts of break and enter commit, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and fail to comply with undertaking.
