“RNAO grieves the loss of Stefanie Van Nguyen, a young RN committed to the nursing profession, her family, friends and her partner jason Parreno,” the statement said. “Stefanie left us way too soon. RNAO hopes that Stefanie’s kindness, selflessness and giving nature are remembered forever and serve as a lesson for others to help brighten the world. As Jason mentioned to RNAO’s CEO Doris Grinspun, ‘the world is a darker place without her.'”
According to CTV, more than 30 front-line workers in Canada have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of early Monday night, proceeds from the GoFundMe in Van Nguyen’s honour — created two days ago — had climbed to $46,160, courtesy of 800 donors.
“Her passing is sudden and we are deeply heartbroken,” Parreno said on the GoFundMe page. “She was so special to everyone who knew her and was so infectious with her personality.”

Parreno said his partner was an “amazing nurse who loved and cared for her patients and co-workers. She was dedicated to her work and was always the one who stayed to get the job done.”
Donations collected via the GoFundMe will go toward relieving some of the burden from her family, including funeral expenses.
The GoFundMe urges anyone either dealing with depression, sadness, over overwhelmed by stress to contact Crisis Services Canada at 1-833-456-4566 or visit crisisservicescanada.ca.
