A woman in Texas was busted after an alleged attempt to kill her ex-husband with tainted treats went awry.
Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, is facing felony charges after allegedly trying to send her ex fentanyl-laced chocolates as a “congratulatory” present for his new engagement, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Stanley was allegedly caught on tape talking to an acquaintance about injecting fentanyl into a box of “high-end chocolates” she wanted delivered to her ex Jeffrey Kauth, 66, according to Sheriff Russ Authier.
Stanley’s alleged plan was for the contaminated chocolates to be part of a package from a travel agency, which also included a fake “honeymoon” incentive offer.
Stanley drove several hours to Coleman, Texas, where Kauth lives, and allegedly “solicited the purchase of what she believed was fentanyl in the parking lot of a local Interstate motel from undercover investigators with the special crimes unit.”
She was taken into custody immediately after the purchase.
Investigators also allegedly found 9.5 g of methamphetamine in her possession.
Stanley was indicted for criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her bond is set at $450,000.

However, the chocolates and faux trip were allegedly Stanley’s fall-back plan.
Kauth told The Independent that after he and Stanley split about five years ago, his ex allegedly “tried to hire a hit man to assassinate me.”
She had not been charged on those allegations, according to the outlet.
“I’m just fortunate that the hit man had a conscience and reached out to me,” Kauth said.
“I’ve spent pretty much the better part of a year-and-a-half with the lights off in the house, floodlights and cameras in the backyard. It’s been an experience.”
