Identical twins in Australia have become famous after an interview about an alleged carjacking — but not for what they said but, rather, for the way they spoke.

The 50-year-old sisters spoke with 7News Queensland on Monday about how their mother came face to face with an alleged carjacker.

But the crime became secondary once it was noticed that the pair answered the reporter’s questions with the same words and finished one another’s sentences.

“And one guy, he was up there with our mum … he goes, run, he’s got a gun,” one sister recalled while the other repeated the same words, speech patterns and even gestures at the same time.

“And our heart started to pound. And I said, ‘Oh, mum, where’s mum?’ And poor mum was stuck up there.”

If you look away or don’t look directly at your screen, it’s almost as if there’s a slight echo or the audio is lagging as the twins’ speak almost on top of or a nanosecond behind the other.

The twins, who are founders of Twinnies Pelican and Seabird Rescue, told the reporter that their mother was able to remain calm despite the armed suspect near her.

“But apparently our brave mum, she goes, ‘Are you alright?’ Because he had blood all over his face. And he goes: ‘I’ll shoot you.’ She goes: ‘Hey, I’m here to help.’”

They continued, in tandem: “Mum distracted him to make him look the other way, and he looked the other way, and mum ran into the bush behind the fence. The guy goes, ‘I’ll find you and I’ll shoot you.’ ”

The Powers twins said in unison that they were thinking to themselves, “‘I hope he doesn’t fire.’”

Luckily, all three women walked away from the incident safely.

And lucky for the rest of the world as the sisters have made the media rounds, giving more interviews about their mother’s involvement in the alleged carjacking as well as, and what has gained widespread fascination, how they speak in tandem.

“Clearly, speaking in unison is a thing that you do,” The Project co-host Waleed Aly asked them incredulously. “How?! How does this happen?”

The women told the talk show hosts: “It just happens and we dunno why, but we have tried to talk separately and we’re not ourselves, it’s not us and it’s very hard.”

They added: “We don’t care about the critics. We tell people if you can’t stand listening to us simply just switch off the TV.”

Aly even pushed the issue and tried to test the twins’ bond by asking only Paula a question — while Bridgette had to remain silent.

Paula laughed and said she would “try to answer it the best that I can” — but Bridgette’s mouth can be seen moving along as her sister spoke.

“I wish I could answer that question,” Paula said, as Bridgette mouthed. “It just happens.”
