Lily Stewart, 20, was taken into custody on March 8 after getting busted for driving over the “maximum limits” and faced a fine of up to $1,000, according to a post by the Georgia Gazette, shared by GAFollowers.
But she has since revealed more details of that fateful day, and how she found herself in the back of a police cruiser. She said that while she was pulled over for speeding, the officer initially let her go.
Stewart explained how she got back behind the wheel — and didn’t exactly learn her lesson.
She started speeding again — and that’s what landed her in handcuffs.
“It was the second time speeding that got me arrested,” Stewart admitted in an interview with the New York Post.
“The officer saw me while he was driving the opposite direction,” she detailed.

“He was like, ‘You’re speeding’ and he was super friendly, and I was super friendly, and he wrote me a ticket,” she recalled.
“As soon as I got back in the car, I pulled out — and accidentally started speeding again,” Stewart said. “By the time I caught myself, he pulled me over and arrested me.”
Stewart said she was driving on a quiet country road where it is easy to lose track of speed, noting the area was “completely empty.”
The University of Georgia student, who is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, was arrested by Georgia State Patrol in Morgan County, which borders Athens, where her school is located.
Stewart’s charge was eventually dismissed and she walked away without having to pay a hefty fine.

But as far as the internet is concerned, her mugshot was worth the arrest.
“I don’t care what she did, she’s innocent,” one admirer wrote.
Another commented, “The only crime here is stealing my heart.”
One person added, “This is the way to take a mugshot. Go girl!”
Stewart wasn’t bothered by the attention, telling TMZ that she thought the comments were funny, though she revealed she has received “gross comments” since her mugshot went viral.
“I understand — it’s surprising that I got arrested for speeding and my mugshot — I was smiling because I always smile for a photo,” she said.
That said, Stewart shared her favourite reactions on her TikTok account, including, “I guess being pretty is a crime now.”
