Shocked onlookers and passersby watched as the vacationers did the deed in broad daylight on April 9, the Bangkok Post reported.
Authorities responded to the raunchy scene after a security guard nearby alerted police about two people having sex on the footpath near the entrance of the famous Walking Street, a pedestrian-only entertainment district known for its vibrant, bustling nightlife.
However, the vacationers had already left by the time cops arrived.
The security guard managed to take a photo of the couple, which he showed to police, according to the publication.
The provocative pair were tracked down at their hotel and taken to the Pattaya City police station for questioning where Zhihang told officers that he did not know that having public sex was illegal in Thailand.

“I’m a photographer who likes to travel around the world to take nude photos in various locations. I have visited many countries where I have done the same thing,” the man told police via an interpreter, according to the Post.

The couple apologized for their actions and “for damaging the image of Pattaya,” police said.
Col. Songwut Chueplakij said the couple would be fined for lewd behaviour and face up to 10 years in jail if they published their X-rated content.
“We have taken both suspects to the inquiry officer of the Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action,” he said.
“The maximum fine is 5,000 Baht ($207) each for public indecency,” the colonel continued, adding that they could also face a 100,000 Baht ($4,134) fine in connection with the Computer Crime Act.
