Why can’t the cast of ‘The View’ just get along?
Despite a successful year that saw a huge spike in ratings and the show being dubbed the “most important political TV show in America” by The New York Times Magazine, morale has never been lower, The U.K.’s Daily Mail reports.

The lone conservative voice on the show, Meghan McCain, 34, is supposedly to blame for the toxic environment and constant conflict.
An ABC insider spoke with the Daily Mail saying, “It’s never been this bad,” adding “I’ve been around a long time, but the morale at the show is worse than ever – even worse than when Rosie O’Donnell was here.”
The increased ratings speak for themselves. The View hasn’t had a cast like this since the Elisabeth Hasselbeck/O’Donnell days.
McCain regularly gets into heated arguments that quickly become personal.
On one occasion she called co-host Joy Behar a bitch on live TV and accused her other co-host Sunny Hostin of leaking negative news stories about McCain.
Those are some of the reasons McCain earned the moniker ‘Manic Meghan’.

McCain was rumoured to be leaving the show earlier this month after reports came out that the show made McCain feel “like a caged animal,” emotionally drained, angry, and isolated.
However, a source said Hostin believed the reports to be part of a smear campaign orchestrated by McCain’s publicist.
An ABC spokesperson tried to quash the rumours of chaos, saying in a statement: “These are nothing more than old rumours and unfounded speculation,” adding “The View and the co-hosts have had an incredible year with great accomplishments finishing the season on a high note with more presidential candidates scheduled to appear next week.”
But, there are conflicting reports, as now the cast is reportedly unable to conduct their Hot Topic briefings anymore.
After McCain recently revealed she had a miscarriage, the source said: “She actually had been telling people she wasn’t sure she wanted kids, and ended up pregnant.”
The other co-hosts “strongly dislike her and Whoopi tolerates her – so they are just co-workers, not her friends,” the source said.
The source concluded, “Meghan is only concerned about one person, Meghan McCain, and as long as ABC allows her to terrorize her co-hosts, the producers and the staff the way she does, it’ll never stop.”
According to the Daily Mail, ABC is hoping the cast can keep it together long enough to reach Aug. 2 when they break for a summer hiatus.
