Also known as Boo Simms, the co-founder of Southern California cheese and charcuterie shop Lady & Larder and creative director for Lazy Dog Restaurants leaves behind husband Sean Montes and daughters Mavis, 3, and Bertie, 2.

“It is with profound sadness that I share the devastating loss of my twin sister and co-founder, Boo Simms, who passed away this week due to a tragic surgery complication,” Sarah Simms Hendrix wrote in an Instagram update to Lady & Larder’s followers.

“This loss is immeasurable, and our hearts are completely shattered.”

She called her sister a “magic maker” who was the “brightest light” she has ever known.

“We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this overwhelmingly painful time,” she added.

No further details were released about Wylie Simms’s passing.

“Your continued support means more than words could ever say,” Simms Hendrix wrote. “Thank you, from the depths of my being, for standing with us during this unimaginable time. With gratitude, Sarah.”

Brother Matt Simms shared a loving tribute to his sister on Instagram as well.

“My dearest Boo,” he wrote. “I never imagined living in a world without you in it. You were such a force of nature — so vibrant, brilliant, and full of life. Your radiant smile and contagious energy brought color to every room and joy to every person lucky enough to meet you.”

He added he will cherish the countless memories they shared together over the years.

“It’s impossible to comprehend why you were taken from us so soon, but I find the slightest bit of comfort in knowing you’re at peace and reunited with Dad. I promise to care for and nurture your girls with every fiber of my being, ensuring they are always surrounded by love and receive an endless supply of hugs.”

Celebrity friends were shocked after learning of her death and shared their condolences on social media.

“Oh Sarah,” wrote actress Busy Philipps. “I’m so beyond sorry for your loss. Sending you and your family so much love.”

American filmmaker and actor Mark Duplass said he was “sending you all of our love. And a promise to carry forward her indomitable spirit and radical positivity.”

Singer and actress Mandy Moore said news of her death was “beyond heartbreaking.”

“We love you and your family so much,” Moore added. “There are no words but holding you and her beautiful family in my heart.”

In her last Instagram post, Wylie Simms shared several photos and videos of her family at the beach celebrating the new year.
