Forensics determined the man tested positive for COVID, but it is unknown if he showed any symptoms in the days leading up to the flight.
The official cause of the man’s death is unclear, but local reports suggest he had a previous serious illness, which has not been identified.
Cabin crew and passengers seated near him were ordered to report to the local health department.
“We extend our condolences to the family and neighbours of the passenger,” the airline said in a statement.
