Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have reportedly bought a home in Portugal after being forced out of their British base following their split with the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to California in June 2020 just months after announcing they were stepping down from their royal duties, now own a vacation property in Portugal, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

Harry and Meghan will join Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, as home owners in the country.

Eugenie and her husband, who works in marketing and sales for a Portuguese luxury golf club, are reportedly very friendly with the Sussexes.

Last year, a report revealed that Harry and Meghan enjoyed a “romantic three-night break” in Portugal after attending the Invictus Games in Germany.

According to the report, owning the property may give the couple a chance to acquire a Golden Visa, which would allow them access to the European Union’s Schengen area.

Harry and Meghan moved out of Frogmore Cottage in 2020 and bought a sprawling Montecito property in Southern California. They held onto Frogmore’s lease to maintain residency in Britain.

Eugenie and her husband sub-leased the five-bedroom property on the grounds of Windsor Castle from the Sussexes and stayed there until May 2022.

In March 2023, after the Royal Family didn’t extend Harry and Megan’s lease, the royal couple were officially no longer residents of Britain. Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, was then offered the property.

The European foothold for Megan, an American citizen, appears to be advantageous to her after she applied for British citizenship but was unable to complete the process before moving back to the U.S.
